[admin post] [sticky entry] Admin Post: Sticky: Welcome post

Welcome to [community profile] maryhill_cid, the only Taggart fan community on Dreamwidth. This is the place to share anything - cast news, fic, art, events. From time to time there willl be fic challenges and episode rewatches as well as discussions on any aspect of the show.

Bear in mind that Taggart can be seperated in to these three very distinctive eras: Jim Taggart, Michael Jardine, Matt Burke and please also remember that not everyone has seen episodes from all the eras, I know I haven't. At some point I will post an extensive episode list for you all to comment on with the episodes you've seen and also the ones you own on DVD.

There will be a small but easy to adhere to rules post coming in due course as well more interests as I am certain that I have missed out both characters and actors, as well as anything else that is relevant to the show and to Scotland.

If there is anything I've missed on the interests, then give me a prod and I'll sort it out, same applies to the community tags and mini bio.

Charity screening of Compensation

On 6th of September Gartmore Village Hall is hosting a charity screening of the series 20 episode Compensation at 7:30pm with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK and a recommended minimum donation of £5 and there will also be an introduction by Alex Norton. This is the episode where Gartmore doubled for the fictional Fenmore and it was also used as a filming location in a couple of Jim Taggart era episodes as well. If anyone needs a recap or anything, let me know and I'll look out my DVD.

If you're in the area at all, then go along if you can. Sadly, I can't make it down that way at all and I only found out about it when I was travelling around Loch Lomond towards the end of last week.

[admin post] Admin Post: Guidlines for posting fic and art

Fic

All pairings and ratings for fic are welcome, just remember to use the 'view with discretion' option for anything rated 15 and 18. Useful: BBFC ratings information.

Any fic longer than 250 words must be behind a cut tag or link to where you posted (your own journal, AO3 etc).

RPF/RPS fic is not allowed. This rule may be amended in the future.

Use a small header for all fic
A handy copy/paste template, do remember to remove the * otherwise the cut tag or link won't work

Art

Icons for small batches a maximum of 10 can be posted without a cut tag and for large batches of 10 or more please use a cut tag. This is a good table generator for icons.

Wallpapers/Banners any images bigger than 640x480 must be behind a cut tag or use a thumbnail preview and link to where you've posted.

Videos music video is fine, just remember to use the 'view with discretion' option for anything that contains NSFW (not safe for work) content.

Any kind of art is welcome, be it drawings, cakes (it does happen!) can be posted, the three types listed above are the most commonly created for all fandoms in general.

The tags

These are the tags to use for fic and art posts: fan art, fan fiction, rating: all ages, rating: teen and up, rating: mature, rating: explicit.

The ratings tags: all ages is suitable for anyone to read, teen and up is suitable for anyone aged 12 and over, mature is suitable for anyone aged 16 and over, explicit is suitable for anyone aged 18 and over. Should you have any confusion with these, just give me a prod and I'll sort it out.

I will get around to creating both character and pairings tags at some point however there is a limit on how many tags I can create for the community.

These are very straightforward but I'm happy to explain any that you are unsure of. People who prefer to use openID by logging in with their other accounts (LiveJournal, Twitter etc) rather than create an account on Dreamwidth can join the community, make posts and leave comments. Dreamwidth has this very useful guide on how to use it.

The rules:

1. Be nice

2. Post anything at all (as long it is Taggart related)

3. Use cuts for long psots (anything over 250 words is considered long)

4. Tags are vital and they make searches easier. Should you need one making, let me know and I'll add to the list.

5. Keyboard warriors (that's anyone who trolls or flames) you will be warned once and then banned should your behaviour continue to fall within the realm of being wholly unacceptable.

This is the complete list of every episode, currently 109, made and aired. The only things I haven't included on this are the various documentaries about the series because there are several and they're very similar in content.
